Semester 2 – Early Departures

We understand that there are requests near the end of Semester 2 where families wish for their student to return home before the end of the school year.

Some points of consideration for families:

– The final day of in-person instruction is annually around 25th – 27th June, followed by a Course Completion Day for students who may need additional support to finalize their learning.

– Students attend regularly with instruction underway up until the Course Completion Day.

– Given that our students miss instructional time throughout the year due to athletic commitments, continued attendance to the end of June is especially important to ensure students have the greatest opportunity for success.

– As QAL is an in-person and not an online school, early departure from school does not necessitate the school creating an accelerated educational plan or packages for early completion.

– As a result of these factors, an early departure may impact the student’s ability to fully demonstrate curricular competencies, and Final grades/proficiencies may not reflect the students full potential.
